Doctor Who Internet brings you relevant videos, articles, and various fan projects of amazing, humorous, or historical relevance.

Who on earth is Tom Baker? Well he’s obviously the actor of the fourth Doctor. But who is he as a  person? He might as well be the Doctor for all the things that spout from his mouth. After watching this documentary in which Tom Baker interviews himself, the first word that will come to mind after hearing his name won’t be ‘Doctor’ or ‘jelly baby’ but more like mad. The guy is completely out of his tree. Meet the actor of the longest running on screen Doctor: [link]

:bulletblue: When Doctor Who Ended [link] Not the final time in 1989, but the warning bell test run of 1985 in which the Who-hating Michael Grade made his first jump at ending Doctor Who. Read the article written in 1985 about it. Why? For historical context.

:bulletblue: Who3D [link] Is a small forum hiding out on the internet in which 3D CGI designers make their own Who projects. Lurk around and take a look at their awesome works. The creator of the Dalek Tales specials dwells within the walls.

:bulletblue: Call Me During Doctor Who and I’ll Kill You [link] An amusing song performed shortly after Rose first aired in 2005.

:bulletblue: Doctor Who TCG [link] A review of the Doctor Who trading card game from 1996. The game itself has good ideas and bad ones, but the reviewer himself is entertaining, sliding in clips from all ages of Doctor Who and opinionated...opinions.

:bulletblue: Pictures [link] [link] Lots and lots of photos and pictures taken during the creation of Doctor Who serials old and new. Lots of hidden photos perfect for reference drawings and general entertainment or humor here. The second link takes you to the BBC website- do not be fooled by the seeming “head shot” close ups. Click on them. There are color photos of 60s stories.

:bulletblue: Endless Reckoning [link] One of the most sophisticated mini-fandom parodies/spoofs of Doctor Who on YouTube.

:bulletblue: The Two Doctors [link] and reviewing the classic sixth Doctor story with Patrick Troughton (2) and Colin Baker (6). A generally entertaining story valued more for its novelty than strength of plot coherence. Also the last appearance of the second Doctor and Jamie on screen.

:bulletblue: Mike Relm Dubstep Remix [link] One of the stranger dubsteps for Doctor Who I’ve seen. It takes actual clips of the show and remixes them into a sort of dubstep song. Interesting take.

You’re lucky you got one this week. Know that.

Did Michael Grade really hate Doctor Who? Was he really the one who got it canceled at the beginning?
XD Indeed, call me while I'm watching Doctor Who and you shall die. Pfft, not really but I can understand why the guy was like, 'This time frame is my time. No distractions.' since Doctor Who was coming back on the air with the episode 'Rose' after being gone for so long.
Awwww yeah. Doctor Who dubstep! 8D
'Yer a Time Lord, Doctor' XD
I wonder if the people who wrote the 11th Doctor's episode with the fez and mop were aware of that one little moment when the 7th Doctor had the fez and mop as a fun little easter egg.

And that quote is freaking hilarious. 'I shall just find out by using my super Time Lord powers of .... looking out of the window.'

I'm pretty sure the fez and mop thing was a shout out to 7. There are lots of easter eggs like that. Plus, the 8th Doctor has wonderful dialogue in his audio dramas. *harbek's personal tumblr had lots of excerpts of the dialogue.

Yeah, Michael Grade kinda did. Here's a letter to him:

HOUSE OF COMMONS
London SW1A 1AA

25 March 2004

Dear Michael Grade,

Congratulations on making the shortlist for the next BBC Chairman. This role is of course traditionally a non-executive one, but we would like to ask you for a reassurance on one specific point.

In your memoirs and in several interviews you have confirmed that the suspension of production of "Doctor Who" in the mid-1980s was motivated, at least in part, by your strong personal dislike of the programme. For example, you have said "I hated it - I thought it was awful" (This Morning, ITV, 13 November 1999). Two years ago (15th April 2002) you called for it to be sent into oblivion when you appeared on the BBC's "Room 101" chat show.

As you will know, the BBC is currently committing substantial financial and creative resources to a major revival of "Doctor Who". Some of the UK's leading writing and acting talents are involved, and the export and merchandising potential is very significant. The programme's impending return was celebrated last autumn at a reception at the House of Commons, attended by a large number of MPs of all parties.

Some however are concerned that, were you to become BBC Chairman, the project would be derailed – potentially wasting significant sums of licence payers’ money.

Are you therefore prepared to guarantee that, should you be appointed to the post, you would not interfere in any way with decisions about “Doctor Who”?

Copies of this letter go to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and to the media.

Yours,

Tim Collins MP (Westmorland and Lonsdale - Con)
Don Foster MP (Bath – Lib Dem)
Stephen Pound MP (Ealing North - Lab)
Julie Kirkbride MP (Bromsgrove – Con)
Bob Russell MP (Colchester - Lib Dem)
Eric Pickles MP (Brentwood & Ongar – C)

Oh dear. Seriously? Just because of a personal vendetta he canceled a program that had millions of fans? Sheesh.

Yeah, I'm thinking about all the stuff that I've posted over these several months. There's probably at least 20 of the older issues. Amazing CGI Dalek webcomics, the original 1963 background notes for DW by the creators, music videos.... gosh I wonder what I've forgotten about. Maybe I should go review my own blogs!

Thanks :D Yup, it's nearly every week, though I now have it listed as bi-weekly because sometimes, I just can't do it. Barely made it this time, as I arrived back in town yesterday night.

Tom is truly mad. And he's not the only doctor who's a time lord in real life. Pertwee was pretty much the doctor he played too. :D
